CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

Theme: Implementation of the PFMA: a post-mortem
Aim of the Conference:
To address research needs in the financial environment for the Public Sector. The main focus will be the results after implementing the Public Finance Management Act of 1999. The question to be answered: Did the PFMA succeed in its purpose?
Papers on other aspects of Government Finance are also welcome. The following topics have already been identified:
- Financial performance under the PFMA.
- Linking strategic planning and budgeting.
- Integrated service delivery planning and in-year management.
- Monitoring of non-financial information and the PFMA.
- Integrated public sector risk management in the South Africa public service: Paradigm shift towards the New Public Management (NPM).
- Towards performance budgeting.
- Did financial management improve after 1999?
An abstract of the paper must be submitted before 30 October 2006.
